Sonavra for counsellors and recovery programs
A private journal your clients can keep between sessions, and one page they can bring to the next one.
Sonavra is free to use. There are no referral codes, nothing is sent to you behind a client’s back, and there is nothing to set up on your side. A client decides what to share and when, and can stop at any time.
What a client can bring
The page For your clinician is made on their own device from their own record. They tick what to include:
- PHQ-9 and GAD-7 over time
- PHQ-9 item 9, on its own line
- The last 90 nights
- Medications, first and last logged
- Changes the record found
- Patterns that reached a finding
- Illness and flare-ups
- How this was made
Then they print it, save it as a PDF, or make a private link. The method paragraph says how each number was made, so you can weigh it.
The private link
Read-only, no sign-in
It opens in any browser and shows only the parts they ticked, for the dates they chose.
14 days, or 30
The link stops working on its own, and they can turn it off sooner from Settings.
The journal stays out
Their writing is not on the link unless they tick a box for it, and even then only the dates they picked.
Each open is logged
Every time the link is opened it shows in their sign-in activity, so they know when it was read.
Between sessions
Homework and worksheets
What you give them lives on Worksheets. Homework stays on Today until it is done, and Before your appointment gathers what is open and what was finished.
Sober days and cravings
A morning check-in, a “since” line, and craving notes with what was going on and what helped. Starting again keeps the year’s sober days in view.
Check-ups when due
PHQ-9 and GAD-7 every two weeks, scored the standard way, with item 9 on its own line and crisis lines one tap away.
One trusted person
A client can choose one person who hears that they showed up, closed the day, or got through a craving. Never the journal, never a miss.
What it is not
- Not a diagnosis. Scores, patterns and risk windows are estimates from what a person logged, in their own words.
- Not a substitute for your work, or for emergency care. The crisis lines are in the app and on every recovery page.
- Not a reporting tool. Nothing reaches you unless the client prints it, saves it, or makes a link and gives it to you.
Recommending it
- The core of Sonavra is free and stays free. Supporter covers the costs of running it and adds a few extras; a client never needs it to share with you.
- It runs on the web, iPhone and Android, with one account across all three.
- A client who signs up from the recovery page starts with the recovery tools already picked.
- Questions about how a feature works, or a request for a program, go to the contact page.
Send a client here.
The recovery page explains the tools in the client’s own terms, and sign-up from it starts with Recovery picked.
